Environment is Everything

Here's the deal: there is a difference between decorating your home, and creating an intentional environment for your home. If you're interested in decorating, you can decorate piece by piece – one item of home decor at a time. There is no shortage of home decor shops to help you do so. But that's not what Anchor Merit is about. Anchor Merit exists because I believe that home can heal you, and be a place of restoration and calm – even when life is not. And yes, home decor is an element of that. But it's more than that.

In a nutshell, I believe that meaningful environments are created when you layer a space with a few impactful items that cater to each of your senses.

When I had a brick and mortar for awhile, I LOVED getting to control nearly every part of the environment my customer was walking in to... how the space sounded, how it smelled, the lighting... how it felt. Have you ever walked around in a home decor store that was styled really beautifully, bought something, and got it home and it felt... lack-luster? You didn't love it as much as you did in the store? Yea, me too. And I've actually experienced this with art, as well. (And although they wouldn't say it, I bet my online customers have, too). This happens for two reasons –

One, you're likely resonating with the curation of the items – how they all work together to create a general aesthetic. Isolate just one item – even one beautiful item – and the synergy is gone.

Two, because when you are shopping somewhere that is beautifully curated, you're not just falling in love with the items in the store, you're falling in love with the environment of the store. How you feel in all aspects of the space. Maybe you felt lighter there, more minimalistic, more serene, or like you were transported. And most likely, it's because you not only loved the look of the space visually, but I would be willing to bet it was more than that, because we take in the world with all of our senses. Did you touch and feel items as you were browsing? Was there a lovely candle burning? Were you shopping in silence, or was there complimentary music? When you take the desired object or art out of the environment you loved it in, without bringing any additional aspects of that environment along with it, the item or art isn't nearly as impactful as it was when you experienced it.

When I discovered this new textured art process, I knew I wanted to create a store that would allow people to be able to not just purchase meaningful art, but that would help them to create a meaningful space. And in order to do that, you have to set the tone for the environment that the art will be displayed in.

I 100% believe that if you purchase a piece of art, PLUS two items that cater to your senses to accompany it, you will be happier with your purchase as whole. We are meant to experience things with all of our senses... this partially is why our online experiences leave us unsatisfied... because they are leaving out important parts of our sensory experiences.

So after fifteen years of styling art, I've created a purchasing formula that will help to ensure you're satisfied with your order. You don't need to overhaul your whole home to feel delighted or inspired in your space. I promise you that if you purchase one item from each of these three specific categories, it will make a huge difference in not just your satisfaction with your art purchase, but your satisfaction with your space. So here it is, my three-item-approach for how to instantly transform your space and your mood.

I'm so excited for you!
